On Thursday 16 and Friday 17th of June, the ASCA Cities Project is organizing an international conference entitled ‘Visualizing the Street’ in the Allard Pierson Museum. The conference will explore the impact of contemporary cultures of image making on the visual cultures of the street. In the context of this conference, on Thursday 16th, 12:00, Ginette Verstraete, our Professor of Comparative Art and Media Studies, will be giving a talk entitled ‘It’s about time. Disappearing Acts in Live Cities’. Ginette will adress the aesthetics and politics of ephemerality characterizing the live images of City Events produced by Snapchat (an extremely popular video-sharing app on mobiles). The conference is open to the public. More information: http://www.cities.humanities.uva.nl/news/visualizing-the-street-conference/
